Labor for energy transition

innogy starts international start-up program "Free Electrons"

Labor for start-ups: innogy supports „Free Electrons“ for energy transition

‘Free Electrons’, a brand new global energy start-up accelerator launches on 9 January 2017 – and innogy is delighted to be the initiator and a founding member. The program seeks to recruit energy start-ups to drive the next generation of ideas in clean energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility, digitization, and on-demand customer services.

innogy gave the initial impulse for Free Electrons and is now been run by eight international utilities who together provide access to 73 million customers worldwide: AusNet Services, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), ESB (Electricity Supply Board), EDP (Energias de Portugal), Origin Energy, Singapore Power (SP), Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and innogy. Two accelerator partners, New Energy Nexus and Swissnex San Francisco will provide additional support to ensure a successful journey.

The utilities and accelerators behind the Free Electrons program are committed to a future where energy is smart, clean and accessible to everyone. The global accelerator program is designed for energy start-ups to further refine their products and services, with the potential to test and develop them with 73 million customers around the world. We, as industry leaders, offer expertise, resources and access to our customer base in exchange for investment and partnership opportunities.
