Baron Winds Project

Steuben County, New York

The Baron Winds project is a proposed wind farm located in the Towns of Cohocton, Dansville, Fremont, and Wayland within Steuben County, NY. The project will help New York meet its renewable energy goals and may contribute up to 300 MW of energy and an estimated 320,000 tons of CO2 emission reductions. The project’s point of interconnection is the existing Canandaigua substation.  Baron Winds is located primarily on agricultural and recreational land. The project will consist of turbines that have tip heights less than 500 feet, roads, and overhead and underground collection and transmission lines throughout the 40,000 acre project area.

Baron Winds is subject to New York State’s Article 10 Siting Process and the project will also be required to obtain other state, local and federal permits prior to construction and operation.  Additional information on the Article 10 Siting Process can be found by clicking the links on this webpage.
