Wind energy in Schleswig-Holstein

Onshore wind energy: four wind turbines in a field in Schleswig-Holstein (Source: RWE press office)

innogy is expanding its Sommerland wind farm in the German State of Schleswig-Holstein by three additional wind turbines. They will have a capacity of two megawatts each. innogy has developed a fourth identical wind turbine in close cooperation with the municipality of Sommerland for its citizens. It was sold to a citizens’ wind farm management company in which the Sommerlanders hold shares. The 150-metres high wind turbines are supplied by German manufacturer Senvion.

Hans Bünting sees great potential in Heliatek’s innovative solar technology

„The expansion of Sommerland wind farm incorporates three key elements: we are expanding our portfolio, the project aids the transformation of the energy sector and due to the involvement of local citizens it has a partnership character. Not only does this increase acceptance by the local population – the Sommerlanders who have a share in the project also benefit directly.“
